Poll: One-Third Agree With Trump On Immigration

A poll by the University of Massachusetts has found deep racial divides continue to exist in the U.S. 'The poll finds that nearly one-third of Americans agree with former President Donald Trump's claim that immigrants are, quote, "poisoning the blood of the country."

Nearly 40-percent believed increased immigration threatens the nation and its identity, and 43-percent think political elites will replace Americans with obedient foreign voters. Jesse Rhodes is co-director of the poll, and he notes that 53-percent of Americans, however, do believe racial and ethnic diversity is a source of national strength, while nearly three-quarters are angered about the continued existence of racism and its influence.

The poll of more than one thousand respondents was conducted in the last week of January with a margin of error of 3-point-7-percent.
