Decisions Soon On New Downtown Springfield Courthouse

State officials are anticipating proposals for a new courthouse in Springfield.

Governor Maura Healey's administration has committed more than 100 million dollars toward the replacement of the Roderick Ireland Courthouse.

The aging downtown site has been the source of complaints due to mold and health issues.

The Governor said on Thursday, the deadline for proposals has been extended to next month.

Thirteen potential sites for the new courthouse have been examined by the state Division of Capital Asset Management, but there has been no official selection.
