A Westfield man has been found guilty of the death of his former girlfriend.

Jurors in Hampden County convicted Blake Scanlon on charges of first-degree murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the death of Alexis Avery.

The 20-year-old Avery was found dead of multiple stab wounds at her home in 2019. Scanlon reportedly confessed to killing Avery.

He will be sentenced next Tuesday. Scanlon also faces charges in a separate case of plotting to kill a prosecutor and a witness in 2020.
