A Greenfield City Councilor is proposing an option that would allow people to donate to elderly or disabled residents who are having trouble paying their taxes.

At-Large Council Wahab Minhas is calling for the establishment of a Tax Aid Committee that would operate under the mayor's office.

Approximately 30 other Massachusetts communities have such funds through a 1998 state law.

The Appointments and Ordinances Committee is expected to vote on the matter before it goes to the City Council.
