The tension between members of the Springfield School Committee continued Thursday night when five members walked out of the session.
Vice Chairman Joesiah Gonzalez, followed by committee members Denise Hurst, LaTonia Monroe Naylor, and Barbara Gresham left in the wake of a heated argument over the search process for the next superintendent.
The topic was not on the agenda, and Gonzalez announced he could not work with Mayor Domenic Sarno, who chairs the committee.
The difficulties surround no student representation on the search committee, and what some members called a lack of transparency.
Gresham returned to secure a quorum for other business to proceed.
