Ironman Officer Retires From Springfield Force

Springfield Deputy Police Chief Rupert Daniel has officially retired. Daniel joined the Springfield Police Department in 1986 and in 2019 he became the first Black officer in Springfield to reach the rank of Deputy Chief.

Daniel served as a member of the U.S. Army Special Forces following 9-11 and he retired from the Army in 2019 as a Green Beret. Daniel has taken part in many marathons, Ironmans and he's currently training for a 100 mile race.

In honor of Daniel, the police department is dedicating its gym in his name.
