A Springfield teenager who is charged with murder is being held without the right to bail following a Thursday court appearance.

The 14-year-old allegedly shot and killed a man along Phoenix Street on the afternoon of April 12th.

The police investigation led to a murder warrant for the teen and he was arrested yesterday morning.

His next court appearance is set for June 14th.

Meantime, Springfield State Rep Bud Williams says it is time for the city to be strong. He says the city must rally against gun violence and questions how a child so young can get a gun and kill.

Mayor Dom Sarno says he is saddened by the events. He says it wasn't too long ago that if two people had a disagreement there was a fist fight. But now in changing times they turn to guns.
