Springfield Union Station is about to get a four-million dollar exterior facelift.
Congressman Richard Neal says the money for station improvements is authorized in the spending bill signed by President Biden in early March. On tap for the station are new benches, sidewalks and additional street lights.
Officials say there will be also be improvements made to walkways, curbs and other parts of the station to make the facility more climate-resilient.
The work will be done by city departments and the design will be handled by the UMass Landscape Architecture Program.
