Pittsfield Names New Police Chief

Thomas Dawley is the new police chief in Pittsfield. His appointment was announced this morning by Mayor Peter Marchetti. He's been a member of the Pittsfield department since 2002, and has recently served as the interim chief.

“I am so honored that Chief Dawley accepted this appointment,” said Mayor Peter Marchetti. “Tom has shown tremendous leadership and resolve throughout his career within the Pittsfield Police Department and in his prior roles. He is respected by his team and is always willing to lend a helping hand.”

"Chief Dawley is a well-respected member of our community and the Pittsfield Police Department and has been for many years,” said Sheriff Thomas Bowler. “For as long as I have known him, he has been a true leader who leads by example, instilling guidance and direction to others. I firmly believe he is a true asset to this community and the Pittsfield Police Department and I congratulate him on his appointment.”

Dawley is a graduate of Boston University with a degree in criminal justice.
