A number of beaches across Massachusetts are closed today.

According to the state's public water quality dashboard, at least 32 beaches, lakes and ponds statewide are off limits.

They include popular locations on Cape Cod and the Islands.

The majority of them are closed due to high bacteria levels.

The high bacteria counts the reason that the Springfield Mayor has temporarily closed swimming at Bass Pond and Paddle Club.
