The cost of living, job opportunities, quality of education and safety are all considered in WalletHub's latest ranking of the best states to live in 2024.
WalletHub compared the 50 states based on 51 key indicators of livability.
The top five best states to live in 2024 are Massachusetts, Florida, New Jersey, Utah, and New Hampshire.
The worst states are Louisiana, New Mexico, Arkansas, Alaska, Nevada and Mississippi.
Massachusetts took top spot due in large part to its strong health care system and high-quality education.
While New Jersey, in third, has the highest median household income in the country, at over 96-thousand dollars.
Connecticut ranked the 22nd best state in the nation.
Rhode Island was 28th.
