A well-known West Springfield restaurant was destroyed in a fire yesterday.
Charlie's Diner on Union Street went up in flames at around 4:30 in the afternoon.
Residents say they were stunned by the news.
They say it was a popular spot for regulars in town and also for travelers passing through.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
Nobody was injured.
