The Big E opens in West Springfield today.
The 17-day festival, also known as "New England's Great State Fair," is expected to bring hundreds of thousands of people to the area.
This year's fair features more than a dozen new food spots along with rides and concerts.
Today is Military Appreciation Day.
Meantime police are reminder drivers that traffic will be tight throughout the fair.
If you are going to the fair through River Street you are reminded that you will be allowed to make a right turn only onto Memorial Avenue.
