President Biden hosts the 2024 NBA champion Boston Celtics at the White House Thursday.

The team's victory this summer over the Dallas Mavericks earned them an 18th title and broke a tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most championships in NBA history.

"All of you may not know this, but my Secret Service name is ‘Celtic.’ For real, because I’m Irish," Biden told the White House gathering. "Everybody behind me is Irish in their heart. I feel a special pride in this trophy for this old Irish Celtic. To all you Celtics, congratulations."

The Celtics' last trip to the White House was in 2008 to meet President George W. Bush.
