A Chicopee City Councilor says he received death threats after last week's meeting.

Councilor Sam Shumsky said he received "numerous phone calls" after voting to move discussion of a Pilot gas station proposal to a meeting next month, including two that allegedly for wished severe injury or his death.

Shumsky added that the lug nuts were loosened on his car, causing one of his tires to almost fall off while he was driving.

Shumsky said threats should not be tolerated at any level, and called for the community to come together.
