Two dogs died in a house fire in Easthampton yesterday because authorities said they accidentally turned on a stove.

According to investigators, the dogs activated a stove at the home, which caused combustible materials left on it to go up in flames.

By the time crews found the dogs, they had died from smoke inhalation.

Authorities are reminding residents to keep stoves clear of flammable materials and ensure pets cannot access the appliances.
