The Patriots have fired head coach Jerod Mayo.
The former Patriots linebacker spent one season as the replacement for Bill Belichick.
Mayo joined the coaching staff as an assistant under Belichick and was anointed as his replacement when other teams started requesting to interview him.
In a statement from chairman and CEO Robert Kraft, an apology was issued to the fans for not delivering a better product in recent years.
New England finished the season 4-and-13 and will have the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
