The City of Holyoke will no longer receive almost 20-million dollars in federal funding to improve the infrastructure.
Mayor Joshua Garcia announced on social media that the city has lost a 19-million-dollar Environmental Justice Community Change grant earmarked from the Inflation Reduction Act.
The money meant for improvements to the Holyoke wastewater treatment plant was revoked by the Trump Administration as part of ongoing federal budget cuts.
Holyoke Board of Public Works chairperson Mary Monahan warned the loss of funding could lead to "immense" quality of life issues.
