Trump Delivers Lengthy Address To Congress

President Trump's Tuesday night address to a joint session of Congress was one for the record books. In the longest speech ever delivered in such a sitting, Trump touted his leadership and plans for the U.S. He talked up his efforts to bring Ukraine to the bargaining table with Russia after having announced a pause in military aid to the war-torn nation.

Springfield Congressman Richard Neal in a statement overnight said, " My Irish grandparents came to the U.S. to pursue the American Dream and create a better life for their families.

Cutting programs like Medicaid and SNAP that benefit low-income families, firing federal employees without cause, taking a sledgehammer to our democratic institutions, and attacking our seniors' Social Security is not the American Dream they knew.

Americans want and deserve better."

Worcester Congressman Jim McGovern, who also represents parts of Hampshire County said on "X" : "His tariffs are about to screw the middle class. His budget betrays the middle class. His tax cuts for billionaires will be paid for by the middle class.

And he spent half his speech ranting about the guy he ran against in 2020. Chaos, corruption & nothing to lower costs."

Several Democrats walked out in protest, and Texas Democrat Al Green - who refused to sit down during the speech and was yelling at Trump - was escorted out.
