A state lawmaker is hoping Eversource's request for a rate increase gets denied.
State Representative Carlos Gonzalez is urging the Department of Public Utilities to turn down the utility's proposal to up its natural gas rate by 13-percent.
Gonzalez warned a rate increase could worsen the already-heavy burden on struggling families.
The department is expected to consider the request before the end of the month.
