State Of Emergency In Amherst Ends, Apartment Fire Contained

The town of Amherst is lifting the State of Emergency for a massive fire at an apartment complex.

Town officials announced Sunday evening the fire on Olympia Drive is contained after close to 48 hours.

Amherst residents were temporarily urged to stop non-essential water use as firefighters used over a million-gallons to fight the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
