An extreme heat watch for Massachusetts except Cape Cod and the Berkshires is now extended from ten a.m. today until eight p.m. Saturday.
Forecasters warn the conditions can be dangerous for everyone, especially older people, young children, pregnant women and those with chronic medical conditions.
The extreme heat in Springfield has seen Cooling Centers to open.
And the concern is not just with the people it is with the animals too.
The people at the Lupa Zoo in Ludlow say they will be closed on Thursday because of the extreme heat.
Officials say they are doing it for the safety of the animals and also the staff and guests.
