There is a high rip current risk in effect through this evening on Cape Cod, especially on south-facing beaches.
Rip currents are one of the leading hazards in the waters of the Cape and they can quickly pull even the strongest swimmers away from shore.
When caught in a rip current, don't panic and swim parallel to the shore until free of the pull.
Officials say dangerous rip currents are possible today across in Barnstable County, Dukes County and Nantucket.
