SPS Proposes Calendar Change After Weeklong Closure

Springfield Public Schools is adjusting its calendar to make up the week lost because of a cyberattack.

District officials are scheduled to vote tonight on a plan that would add two full instructional days before the start of winter break then end the break two days earlier.

The district said the proposal is a collaborate effort with the Springfield Education Association and other local unions.

SPS said the group chose to save the snow days at the end of the year in case classes need to be canceled during the winter.
