The Red Sox have awarded Chad Tracy with a three-year contract to be the team's 49th manager.
President and CEO Sam Kennedy said Tracy stepped into a difficult situation as the "interim" manager and that what the team has accomplished over the past several months is "historic."
Tracy took over in late April and guided the 10-17 Sox on a remarkable turnaround leading to a wildcard playoff spot.
Before joining Boston, Tracy managed Triple-A Worcester from 2022 through 2025.
