Courthouse Officials Express Concern Over Liberty Junction Deal

Some Hampden County officials are asking Governor Healey to reconsider the selected proposal to develop the new Springfield courthouse.

Four top Hampden elected officials who work at the current courthouse sent the governor a letter of concern about the Liberty Junction proposal late last month, including Sheriff Nick Cocchi and Clerk of Courts Laura Gentile.

In it, they asked about the potential parking situation and size of the building, the actual cost to taxpayers, and possible contamination of the site.

The deal has faced pushback in the months since Liberty Junction was selected as the winning bid, with some alleging a conflict of interest in the selection process.
