Senator Chris Murphy is hospitalized after suffering a stroke.
A spokesperson for the Connecticut Democrat's office said he was taken to a local hospital on Saturday after experiencing numbness in his arm while at his son's hockey game.
He was later transferred to Johns Hopkins and is said to be responding well to treatment.
The 53-year-old Murphy has represented Connecticut in the Senate since 2013 and is not up for re election this year.
