Springfield To Consider Flock Camera Ban

The City of Springfield is considering a ban on Flock cameras.

The City Council Public Safety Committee held a meeting Wednesday night on an ordinance that would prohibit the use of Flock cameras or any other automated license plate readers.

The ordinance is opposed by the Springfield Police Department, which called Flock cameras "an essential tool for law enforcement."

There are currently more than 50 automated license plate readers in Springfield.

A second committee session is scheduled for November 17th.
