Yarmouth, MA Police Sergeant Sean Gannon was shot and killed Thursday, April 12, 2018 while assisting with a warrant being served in Barnstable. Sgt. Gannon and his K-9 Nero were searching the home and located the wanted man in a closet. The man opened fire, fatally wounding Sgt. Gannon and wounding Nero. The man then barricaded himself inside the house for two hours before being arrested. The 29-year-old suspect who was charged with killing Sgt. Gannon's murder had 111 prior offenses on his record and was on probation. Sgt. Gannon leaves behind his wife, parents, and two siblings.
