I just happen to have a lifelong friend who is the 2022 Texas State Champion Dualist and an expert in cowboy-type firearms. Bob Pepi is Massachusetts born and bred but he's a real Texan now. Even lifelong longhorn state shooters had to admit it when they handed the Yankee transplant a championship shooting medal. Bob and his bride Maureen moved to Texas by way of his work and it was a perfect fit for a firearms enthusiast and marksman. You may recognize the name Bob Pepi as the "Historian" to the Jim Polito Show. More importantly, he is my brother from another mother. In the video below, Bob lays out the most likely scenario as to what caused the tragedy on the set of Alec Baldwin's low budget western "Rust." Baldwin denies he pulled the trigger and claims he is the victim of a smear campaign by the New York Post and other media. An FBI investigation concluded the gun could not have gone off without being deliberately fired. While Bob agrees with that finding, he explains that a lack of basic safety and little understanding of how the revolver operates likely contributed to Baldwin firing the fatal shot that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Bob's explanation in the video below is easy for anyone to follow and he plays it down the middle. In other words, he does not have a horse in this race. Frankly, it's the best demonstration I've seen of what likely happened and it could possibly serve as expert testimony in a court case.
