Move Begins To Replace Damaged Flags On Cape

A 25-hundred-dollar reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of whoever vandalized the first responder flag display on a Route 6 overpass on Cape Cod.

The Barnstable Police Department says this is the fifth time the flags have been vandalized since being placed on the Route 149 overpass in West Barnstable a few years ago.

The police department says it appears the flags were sprayed with a melting agent.

The flags were purchased by donations to the Nicholas G. Xiarhos Memorial Foundation, which State Representative Steven Xiarhos started in honor of his son who was killed in Afghanistan while serving with the Marine Corps.
